The first operator to allow customers to download a second mobile number directly from the App Store


Challenge
To launch a new service that can generate additional revenues, while reducing the customer retention cost.
Users should be offered an innovative service that they can activate by themselves in real time from multiple channels including App stores, IVR and the Web.

Solution
Based on fonYou’s customized XtraLine solution, Telefonica successfully launched its second line service (Segunda Linea) in March 2011 to its customers in Spain. The second line allows customers to make calls and manage services such as their voicemail, their phonebook and a caller blocking feature on their personal cloud.


Results
The service has experienced an extremely fast user uptake. When the smart phone App was launched, it quickly became the top 2 App in the Spanish App store. The ARPU increase for Second Line users has been significant as well as the reduction in churn for customers that have adopted this new service.
